Approximately 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Destruction
Residents observed giant hailstones as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units activated to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand households in the southern state also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area saw its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled 598 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

- Wyndham region - nearly 180 calls for assistance
During the peak on the previous day, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both regions.
Health Warning
Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
